Watch the TV series in release order: Gintama, Gintama', Enchousen, Gintama°, Gintama., Porori-hen and both halves of the Silver Soul arc. Then the two-part Semi-Final, a prequel to the last film, and Gintama: The Final, which ends the story.

Other orders

The other films are optional. Shinyaku Benizakura-hen (2010) retells the Benizakura arc from the first series, Kanketsu-hen (2013) is an original story by the author set outside the TV run, and Yoshiwara Daienjou (2026) is a newly animated retelling of the first series' Yoshiwara arc. Porori-hen is a run of mostly comedy episodes between two serious arcs; the main story doesn't depend on it.
