Community guidelines
Last updated 13 October 2026. They cover everything other people can see: usernames, display names, bios, social handles, profile pictures, posts and their photos and videos, comments, private messages, and anything else you post or send.
The short version
Be kind, don't spoil, and don't post anything you wouldn't want a stranger to read aloud. We have zero tolerance for abusive content and abusive users.
Not allowed
- Spoilers without a warning. Keep plot reveals where people have already watched, or behind a spoiler tag.
- Harassment and bullying. No threats, targeted insults, pile-ons, or following someone around after they block you.
- Hate. No slurs, and nothing attacking people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or serious illness.
- Sexual content. Nothing sexually explicit, and nothing sexualizing minors, including fictional characters who are minors. We report child sexual abuse material to the authorities.
- Spam and scams. No ads, link farming, repeated posts, fake giveaways, or selling accounts.
- Impersonation. Don't pretend to be another person, a studio, a streaming service, or MyAnimeTracker staff.
- Private information. Don't share anyone's personal details, such as an address, phone number, or real name they haven't shared themselves.
- Self-harm encouragement. Don't encourage anyone to hurt themselves. If someone seems at risk, report it so a person can look.
- Piracy. Don't link to unofficial streams or downloads.
Profile pictures
Anyone can see your profile picture, including people who have turned mature content off, so the bar is stricter than for anime posters.
Fine:
- Anime characters, art, photos of yourself, pets, places and objects.
- Ordinary clothing, including swimwear in a non-sexual setting.
Not allowed:
- Nudity of any kind, or underwear and poses meant to be sexy.
- Anyone who looks under 18 shown in a sexual or revealing way.
- Blood, gore, injuries or weapons pointed at the viewer.
- Hate symbols or extremist imagery.
- Slurs, insults or sexual words written in the picture.
- Drugs, or someone else’s personal details such as a phone number.
Posts
You can post text on your profile with up to four photos or one video (up to 60 seconds). Your posts go to the same people who can see your library, and show in their Feed. The rules above apply, and photos and videos follow these:
Fine:
- Screenshots of anime, fan art, cosplay, figures, merch, manga, and your own photos of yourself, pets, places and things.
- Ordinary clothing, including swimwear in a non-sexual setting.
Not allowed:
- Nudity of any kind, or underwear and poses meant to be sexy, drawn or real.
- Anyone who looks under 18 shown in a sexual or revealing way.
- Gore, graphic injuries, or weapons pointed at the viewer.
- Hate symbols or extremist imagery.
- Slurs, insults or sexual words written in the picture.
- Drugs, ads, or someone else’s personal details such as a phone number or address.
Also fine in videos:
- A few seconds of an episode to talk about it, and talking, music or game sound of your own.
Also not allowed in videos:
- Slurs, insults, or sexual words or sounds in what is said or heard.
- A whole episode, opening or ending, or long stretches of one.
- Rapid flashing or strobing.
- Only post photos or videos you took, made, or have the right to share. A few seconds of an episode to talk about it is fine; whole episodes, openings or endings, or long stretches of one are not.
- Turn on Spoilers when a post gives away the plot, and it's folded away until someone taps it. The automatic check folds it for you when it spots a spoiler.
- People who can see a post can like it and comment on it. You can delete comments on your own posts, and delete a post at any time; its photos or video go with it.
Comments and spoilers
Each season, film and episode has a discussion. Episode discussions stay hidden until you mark that episode watched, and you have to have watched an episode to comment on it.
- Wrap anything that gives away the plot in two bars,
||like this||, so people have to tap to read it. In a whole-show discussion, people may not have started it yet, so hide any plot reveal. - A comment that spoils without bars is collapsed behind a warning for everyone. That happens when the automatic check spots it, when you mark it yourself, or when three people tag it.
- Plus members' comments are highlighted. That never moves them higher in a discussion.
- You can also like and comment on people's updates (starting a show, planning to watch one, finishing it) when you can see their library. The same rules apply, the automatic check reads those comments too, and the person whose update it is can delete comments on it.
Private messages
Messages are private between the people in the conversation, and these guidelines apply to them just the same.
- By default only friends, people who follow each other, can message you. You can let people you follow, or anyone, message you instead in Settings, Privacy. Anyone who isn't your friend lands in your message requests, and can send up to three messages until you accept.
- Group chats are private and hold up to 20 people. Whoever starts a group owns it, and only the owner can add people, and only their own friends. Being added puts the group in your message requests; join to read and send messages, or decline and you won't be added again. Anyone can leave, and the owner can remove people. When the owner leaves, the group passes to whoever has been in it longest.
- Deleting a request stops that person messaging you. Blocking someone ends messaging both ways: they leave groups you own, you leave groups they own, and in anyone else's group neither of you sees the other's messages.
- Don't send unwanted sexual messages or advances, and don't ask anyone who might be a minor for personal details, photos, or to move to another app.
- Messages are text only and aren't end-to-end encrypted, so a moderator can read a message that is reported or held by the automatic check.
How we keep it clean
- A word filter stops slurs, sexual terms, and strong profanity in usernames, display names, bios, social handles, comments, and messages. A social handle must be your own account on that site.
- Every profile picture is checked automatically before anyone sees it. A picture the check isn't sure about isn't used.
- Every post and each of its photos or its video is checked automatically before anyone else sees it, a video with its sound. A photo or video that breaks the rules isn't posted. A post the check isn't sure about waits for a person to review it, and only you can see it until then.
- Every comment is checked automatically before anyone else sees it. A comment the check flags as abusive or spam waits for a person to review it, and only you can see it until then. Messages are checked the same way before they are delivered.
- Anyone signed in can report a profile, a post, a comment, or a message from the menu on it. A person reviews every report, and we aim to do that within 24 hours. The person you report isn't told who reported them.
- Anyone can block another account. Neither of you sees the other's profile or can message the other after that, and they aren't told.
What happens when someone breaks them
Depending on how serious it is, we may remove the content and add a strike to the account. Strikes usually go: a warning, then a 24-hour mute, then a 7-day mute, then a ban. A muted account can't change its public profile, post, or send messages. A banned account can't sign in and its profile disappears. Serious violations, such as threats of violence or sexual content involving minors, can lead straight to a ban.
