Track episodes while you watch

The MyAnimeTracker extension notices when you finish an episode on Crunchyroll, HIDIVE, Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max and Tubi and marks it watched in your library. A small card offers a one-tap rating and a way to talk about the episode, and Undo if it got it wrong.

Looking for the extension…

How it works

  1. Add the extension, then tap Connect this browser above. You stay signed in on this site as usual.
  2. Watch as you always do. An episode counts once you have watched most of it, not when you press play, and skipping to the end counts for nothing.
  3. When one counts, the card appears. If the show is not in your library it is added as Watching, and the episode and the ones before it are marked watched.

The first time a series is unclear (a service names its seasons differently from the catalog), the card asks which season you watched and remembers your answer. It never guesses between seasons.

What it reads

  • The series name, season and episode number on the page you are watching, and how far the video has played.
  • Nothing else on the page. Not your account, not what you type, not the video, and nothing on sites you have not allowed.
  • It sends only the service, the series name, season and episode number (and the service's own id for the series and whether it is a dub, when the page says), and, once you finish one, the title and episode number. The extension talks to MyAnimeTracker and nobody else.

You can pause it from the toolbar icon or disconnect it there, which ends its sign-in. See the privacy policy for the details.

Where it works

Crunchyroll and HIDIVE stream only anime, so they are on as soon as you connect. Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max and Tubi also stream other kinds of shows, so each is off until you turn it on from the toolbar icon. Once it is on, the extension looks up what you watch there in our catalog to find the anime, keeps nothing about shows it does not find, and asks you to confirm the first match of each show, so a live-action show that shares an anime's name is never counted as the anime.

Watching somewhere else? Open the toolbar icon on that site and choose Track episodes on this site. Your browser asks you to allow it first, one site at a time, and the extension then works there the same way, confirming the first match of each show. You can take a site back from the toolbar icon whenever you like. Which site an episode played on only goes into anonymous counts, never into your account (see the privacy policy).

It works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc and Firefox. Streaming sites change their pages without warning, and we are still checking each service against the real thing, so one may not pick up an episode yet; the last section says what to send us. MyAnimeTracker is not affiliated with these services and does not host or stream video.

Watch parties

If you want, the extension can tell the episode's watch party which episode you are on and how far in, so friends who are behind are not shown chat that spoils it. It is off until you turn on Show friends what I am watching in the toolbar popup, and it only ever names the episode, never the service you are on.

If an episode is not picked up

Streaming sites change their pages without warning. Open the extension from the toolbar, choose Copy debug info and email it to support@myanimetracker.com. It holds only titles and episode numbers, and it is enough for us to fix it. You can always mark the episode yourself in your library.
